Oaks Festival Parade

Hi,

Saturday was the Annual Oracle Oaks Festival. I was involved in helping do a float for the Oracle Library. Howard donated the use of his trailer. Our theme was Mining For Knowledge. The man in the picture is Harold Merriman who did most of the construction and also drove the float. It was really a cute float and looked better in reality. The ore car is full of books. The side says Ore Car of Knowledge. The banner says Mining For Knowledge--Good as Gold. The sign over the mine entrance says Library Gold Mine. Howard didn't get a picture of the kids on the float wearing hard hats because just as they came by where we were standing, the battery died in the camera and they were by before he got the new one in. Neither of us were feeling very good as we both had terrible colds. I ended up sitting up all night with asthma, I couldn't lie down as I couldn't breathe. I had gone into a full fledged asthma attack. I called my doctor the next day(Sunday). He really scolded me for not calling sooner. He had to put me on a series of prednisone pills. He reminded that if I had called sooner, he may not have had to give me such a harsh treatment--a lesson learned. I don't know yet how we placed as a float but I will post any news and maybe some better pictures later. MOM/Verna

Fun Scrapbooking

Hi,

I am going to try and do this again. My first post got lost in cyberspace somewhere. Of course, that isn't hard for me to do. I had alot of fun at my sister's yesterday. I joined their scrapbooking group which included Melanie, Lila, Melanie's friend Lynn and myself. I had been wanting to do a memorial scrapbook in memory of Kenneth and Clinton but it has been hard since we lost all of our pictures in the house fire. I have been asking family and friends to look for pictures of the boys. Melanie let me go through her pictures to see what I could find. I found some funny and interesting pictures of different family members. I am going to post a couple for now but do keep checking in for interesting photos. MOM/Verna
